The ScrapDogs Newsletter: 11/12/24 🍿

We're mixing up the schedule!

Starting this week, we've adjusted our pickup schedule to accommodate our growing list of composters!

  • The Rockland-area route (previously on Thursday) is now on Wednesday

  • The Belfast-area route (previously on Wednesday) is now on Thursday

If you're not sure whether this affects your pickups, please double-check in your customer account by clicking on the calendar icon.

New Drop-Off Station in Belfast is Live

Many, many thanks to the good people of Belfast for helping us launch our newest drop-off station at the Belfast Transfer Station! Residents of Belfast can now either subscribe to our drop-off services or participate in the public drop-off option.

Drop-off subscribers are able to bring a full ScrapDogs bucket to the transfer station and swap it out for a fresh, clean bucket as often as they'd like, and receive half a yard of finished compost every year!

And the public drop-off is available for anyone to dump their food scraps for no fee - no subscription necessary. Simply bring your scraps in your own container and dump them into the black bins!

Party Buckets: Extra Room for Scraps

With the holidays closing in on us, a friendly reminder that pickup customers can always order a Party Bucket from the Shop in your customer account, and we'll deliver an extra bucket on your next pickup day! Perfect for big family meals or when you're expecting company.

Over the River and Through the Woods: ScrapDogs in Winter

As you know, ScrapDogs pickup services are provided year-round – and that means we inevitably encounter some nasty weather! When the going gets tough and the roads get icy, here are a few things to know:

  • We take our scrappy responsibilities seriously and work hard to provide collection services on our typical schedule; however, our primary concern is keeping our team safe on the road!

  • Our standard policy is to follow local school closures and delays regarding ice and snow and, on rare occasions, make the call to delay based on local conditions. In the case of delays or cancellations, we will send out an email, update our website, and post on social media with the updated schedule.

  • We always suggest leaving your bucket at the end of your driveway and close (but not too close!) to the road to minimize distance that our drivers have to cover on foot – this is particularly true during the slippery season.

Thank you for getting through winter with us!

Composter Shout-Out: The Strand Theatre

A warm welcome to The Strand Theatre in Rockland, who have recently come on board to start composting their leftover popcorn.

Be sure to check out their upcoming shows, ranging from classic films to children's theatre productions and more! And don't forget to grab some popcorn while you're there 🍿
